He was born on 5 November 1988 in Delhi. He studied at Vishal Bharti and Savier Convent, Delhi. He got his initial cricket training in West Delhi Cricket Academy, since 1998. He also used to play matches for Sumit Dogra Academy in Vasundhara Enclave near Noida. Virat Kohil's role model is Herschelle Gibbs of South Africa. He was born into a Punjabi family to Prem Kohli and Saroj Kohli. His father worked as a criminal lawyer and mother is a house wife. He has an elder brother, Vikash and an elder sister, Bhavna. Kohli is specifically from clans of the Katri sub-caste. His father was died on December 19th, 2006 due to brain stroke which numbed everyone and changed Virat completely and made him very conscious for his career. It will be sung by India Test captain Virat Kohli, at an event in Chennai ahead of its inaugural season. The anthem titled 'Naam hai Futsal', will be released with a video featuring Kohli, on June 20 via Premier Futsal's digital platforms. The league ambassador of Premier Futsal, Kohli said that, "I have been a fan of AR Rahman for years. It will be a personal achievement and also a privilege to share the screen with him and lend my voice to the anthem of Premier Futsal".
